Saturday afternoon, I'm headed to Pittsburgh. I will search all 4 Sephora's. I am not leaving without this....

Getting a Little Personal...

Here we and my tiny best friend. I can't believe he'll be a year old a week from tomorrow. The past year has flown by. And looking back, I'm not sure how I made it this far with him. He scared me to death the first time I held him. I'm not a kid person, I had no idea what I was doing. It's a big deal to have someone rely 100% on you.
I cried when I first found out I was pregnant. Not because I was having a baby, but because I was going to be a mother. It's silly now that I think about it. But at the time, I wasn't sure I could do it. Thankfully, God is in charge. He knew I would ruin a girl, and that I couldn't handle a wild child. Odin is perfect for me. He has been since day one, and I thank God for him daily. I wish you all could know him like I do. He really is the best baby.
I can't believe how funny he is (he gets that from He's also very intelligent (not from I love that I'm the one that got to carry him in my tummy, and bring him into the world. That's amazing. God is so good. Men don't know what they're missing. And to be the one with him 24/7 at home is an even bigger blessing. I'm over the moon that I got see all his "firsts". Moving on...I'm getting emotional...
However, being a married-single parent is probably the hardest thing about the past year. Jeremiah's job kept him away for the first 6 months of Odin's life. And over the last 6 months, he's been gone about 50% of the time. Knowing that I'm the parent that has shaped Odin into who he is today is hard. I know I'm a good mama, and I know he loves me, but I can't stop wondering if I could've done more. I cry myself to sleep a lot thinking, "Shouldn't he be walking all of the time and talking more?" Sometimes I feel like a failure. Not to sound hateful, but I hope everyone thinks that way at one point. I don't want to be a crazy person.
Sorry, this isn't my typical blog post. I just needed to vent for a sec. I tend to bottle up the emotional stuff to keep up my bubbly outward appearance. The past year has been the hardest, but the best year of my life. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying....

My [ACCIDENTAL] Secret to Better Skin...

As a lot of you know, Odin was recently sick for about 2 weeks. When we took him to the ER (the 2nd, the doctor gave us a few things at home to do along with giving him medication. One of which was run a cool mist humidifier. I run it beside the bed while we sleep(he insists on sleeping in the middle), and all day while we play in the living room. My skin looks amazing!! It's hydrated, it looks more even, and it looks brighter. I googled it make sure I wasn't seeing things. I was right...they are great for your skin!! Who would've thought?! Not only can my child breathe better, but I look fabulous!! Hands down, best $38 I've ever spent. If you have one, run it. If you don't, go get one!!

This is the one we have. I insisted on getting this one, becuase it was for Odin. The mist comes out of the trunk...too cute!! It was $38. We paid extra for cuteness. They do have cheaper ones.

Here are some of the other benefits of a cool mist humidifier are they ease allergies, colds, flu, and asthma symptoms. Plus, they help heal chapped lips!!

7 Grooming Products to Steal From Your Guy...

I ran across this article on my PopSugar iPhone app a few days ago. I thought it was adorable & practical, so I wanted to share it with you ladies!! I DID NOT WRITE THIS, just copied & pasted it :)

"When it comes to beauty and personal care products, most of the time it seems like women get all the good stuff. Anecdotal evidence is rife with tales of male friends, little brothers, and boyfriends sneaking our fancy eye creams and quietly delighting in our high-quality shampoos. But men's grooming has some pretty great stuff, too, and there's no reason you shouldn't be making off like a bandit (or just, you know, borrowing stuff). Our friends at BellaSugar compiled this handy list of products you should unashamedly steal from the men in your life.
His styptic pencil: These handy little sticks stop bleeding from shaving and help prevent infection, so when you nick that annoying spot on your knee, you don't have to hobble around holding tissue on it for 20 minutes. Rumor has it you can even use these on newly popped pimples in a pinch.
His face scrub: Try a men's face scrub on your body. They're often grainier than women's, and typically more moisturizing, so they're perfect to use on dry skin.
His nice razors: Oh man do I love men's razors. The fancy ones have so many blades, and they will make your legs extra smooth.
His deodorant: It's strong enough for a woman, but made for a man. Seriously, though, guys' deodorant smells rich and warm, as opposed to the faux florals and chemical-y baby powders often encountered with women's.
His product: Use a dude's styling wax or pomade to smooth flyaways, or make your bedhead look intentional instead of walk of shame related.
His loofah: While they might not be the best for using on your whole body, they're absolutely perfect for scrubbing knees, elbows, and feet into smooth shape."

Just wanted to share a pic of my guy :) I steal his grooming products on a daily basis. He hates when there is leg hair in his razor & loofah smells like!!

Makeup Tricks...

Just wanted give you ladies a few makeup tricks to make you look even more fabulous!! Enjoy!!

  • Before applying lipstick, run your toothbrush over your lips to exfoliate. This way, your lipstick will glide on and look flawless.
  • To extend the life of your lipstick, place a single-ply tissue over your lips (after you put on lipstick) and lightly dust over it with your powder. This will set your lipstick & keep it from feathering.
  • Want to keep your eyeliner from smudging? Apply it first with a pencil, then trace over it with the same color eyeshadow. To make it last even longer, wet your shadow brush with Visine first.
  • Love waterproof mascara, but hate removing it? Put a coat of non-waterproof mascara on first, as a base coat. This way, the waterproof kind will bond to the regular mascara & not your lashes.
  • (As much as I hate to admit this...) While watching Jersey Shore, I noticed as the girls get ready they spray their faces with hairspray. As crazy as it sounds, it will set your makeup and make it last through a day at work or night out.

This picture has NOTHING to do with my post. I couldn't find one that did, so I decided to share this one of me and my sisters doing a blackhead mask. I love it, I think it's :)

Homemade Eye Makeup Remover...

My girl, Kandee Johnson, posted a video about how to make your own eye makeup remover. (here's the link) It's made from Witch Hazel & Olive Oil. That's it. My mama & I made some last night. We loved it!! I wear a ton of eye shadow, and little bit of that stuff on a cotton ball took my makeup off BOTH eyes. BOTH EYES!! It also leaves your skin so soft. And, the best part? It's super cheap. We had Olive Oil in the cabinet, and a big bottle of Witch Hazel was a little over $2 at trusty ol' Wal-Mart. Watch Kandee's video, she's better at explaining
While on the subject of Witch Hazel, my bff told me she's been using it as a toner. It shinks your pores. Its great for acne. It helps promote speedy healing with bumps, bruises, and burns. This stuff is AMAZING!! (& cheap!!) Click here to learn more about Witch Hazel!!

Blackhead Cleansing Masks...Wal-Mart vs Sephora...

When you order from, you get to pick 3 free samples. This is one of the items I've picked in the past...
Dr. Brandt No More Pores Vacuum Cleaner

I was really impressed with this product. You put the blue mask all over your face, and when it turns white you wipe it off. It really does remove blackheads, more than those painful pore strips. This is pain-free. You do it twice a week to stay blackhead free. I priced it at Sephora. FORTY FIVE DOLLARS. I could not bring myself to pay $45 dollars for an ounce of this product.

Wal-Mart saved my life...

Clean & Clear Blackhead Eraser Cleansing Mask

It works the EXACT same way as the expensive stuff. I was thrilled!! All ingredients, directions, color...EVERYTHING was the same!! The best part is, you get FOUR OUNCES for around FIVE DOLLARS!! Amazing!! I love a bargin. If you ladies get blackheads, I highly reccomed this product!!

Do the Sally Hansen Nail Effects REALLY Last 10 Days?...

I'm surprised. After washing my hands a billion times this past week, I'm impressed. I promise you, I did not go easy on these things. I did everything I would normal do...bathe, take care of Odin, workout, EVERYTHING. They started chipping at the bottom because I didn't have them fully secured to my nail. They were on the skin, and when they grew out they got caught in my hair. LOL! Other than that, I'm pleased with them. Wal-Mart has a bunch in stock right now!! (I was just there) GO GET SOME!!
Also, I know not everyone is willing to spend $30 on foundation or $28 on bronzer. So, I did a little haul at Wal-Mart the other day, and I will be reviewing those products for you all very soon!!

How I Celebrated St. Patrick's Day....

There's something fun about coordinating your makeup to a lips at Christmas, pastel eyeshadow at Easter, feather eyelashes for Halloween. I decided to go with my favorite eyeshadow today...Green Room from Lorac.

I LOVE this color!! It's a beautiful, deep emerald green with a black sheen. It's gorgeous!! Plus it's a high quality, high pigment shadow. Lorac's eyeshadows are infused with soothing botanicals, such as Calendula & Cornflower, so it's non-irritating. I give this shadow an A+. I found mine at Sephora for $19...a bit pricey, but totally worth it.

Hope everyone made it through the day without getting pinched!! Stay safe tonight!!

The Things You Find in Your Makeup Case...

I've found...the lose treasure hiding in the lipgloss/lipstick tray of my makeup case. I had to share the good news with you all. It's called Glamour Gloss, by Too Faced. I guess I got it in one of my many palettes, and I just tossed it aside.

It's plumps your lips (without that burning sensation, it is a bit tingly though). The natural-plumping system utilizes rice lipids and dehydrated marine spheres that work directly with the body's hydration system to collect moisture and plump lips. A combination of Omega 3, 6, and 9, Natural Vitamin E, Jojoba and Avocado oils hydrate and moisturize lips for a youthful appearance. It's a sheer wash of color. It's gorgeous!! I love this stuff!! I wish I would've tried it sooner. My gloss is in Pillow Talk (pictured above), and can be found at Sephora is sold out, I checked.
Too excited not to show you guys!! (yes, this is what I look like when I hang out at home...full face of makeup, leopard print nails, and bandanna headband LOL!!)

Making My Dream A Reality...

So, I've been thinking...just because I'm not going to have the sha-bang set up for this year, doesn't mean I shouldn't help girls who need prom dresses. I have about 10 between my sister & I. They range from sizes 3-9. If you know a girl who needs a dress, please contact me. If you would like to donate a dress, shoes, or jewelry please let me know. I would appreciate if the dresses were dry cleaned, but if not I'll take care of it. I'm really excited about this project!! Let's get girls to prom!!

Also, I want a name for this. HELP!! I've been racking my brain for days & I can't come up with anything. Similar groups are The Cinderella Project & The Princess Project. I would like something different. Suggestions are welcome!! :)

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!! I look forward to hearing from you!!

How to Apply False Eyelashes...

Long eyelashes can make eyes look bigger, fuller and more inviting, but not all of us are blessed with sky-high lashes. Thankfully, modern civilization invented false eyelashes, which come in various styles, colors, and sizes. If you learn how to put them on correctly, no one will ever guess that they're not yours. Here's how to apply them...
  1. Trim the lashes- If the lash is bigger than your eye, trim one side (lash by lash) until the fit.
  2. Squeeze eyelash glue onto the back of your hand and run the eyelash along it- Blow softly from edge to edge to make the glue a little less runny to apply your lashes.
  3. Pick up the lashes with tweezers & get them as close to your natural lash line as possible.
  4. Press from end to end and hold until the glue dries (30 seconds to a minute, or sometimes less depending upon the adhesive)- This allows the glue to set so that when you lift your fingertips from it, the lashes won't come along for the ride
  5. Apply mascara while pressing your finger behind the fake lashes- This will bond the false lashes with yours.(It may be beneficial to use an eyelash curler before applying mascara)
  6. Fill any gaps between the false lashes and your natural lash line with eyeliner.
This will take some practice, so don't be discouraged if you don't get it on the first try. Also, don't feel like you have to go out & spend $20 on a set you're going to wear one time. Lady Gaga's makeup man, Billy B, uses Ardell lashes, which can be picked up at Wal-Mart for around $5.

My Favorite Blush...

I am a huge bronzer girl, but I've just recently gotten into wearing blush. I guess I grew up seeing those old ladies with their bright orange lipstick & bright pink blush, and I was turned off by it for the longest time. I was watching one of Kandee Johnson's videos on YouTube, and I decided to give it a try.

This is Too Faced's Brightening Blush in La Vie En Rose. I love this stuff!! It's a beautiful bright pink, with a hint of gold. The color is buildable, which is great. One swipe across the cheeks gives you a sheer flush. Two swipes gives you that pinky glowing look. It's a gorgeous color. I've been wearing this with my Benefit Hoola bronzer. It's a great combo. I got mine at Sephora for $20.

FASHION FRIDAY!! (3/11/11)

This bag combines 2 of my favorite things...1. animal print 2. Dolce & Gabbana. They've really out done themselves this time. This is the Miss Charles Animal-Print Shoulder Bag. I LOVE this bag. It's made from animal-print dyed calf hair and leather. The cross-body strap is chain & pearl beads. This is something for everyone, a tough look with feminine touches. Ugh. Gorgeous. This fabulous creation can be yours for $1,525.00 from Neiman Marcus.

Makeup Trends for Spring 2011...

Need a new, fresh look for Spring? Here's a few of the top trends for you to try.

Bright lips will be all the rage this Spring. It's a bold statement. Remember if you try this trend, go easy on the eye makeup. Too much can make you look like a clown...or a drag queen. For this look try Make Up For Ever's Glossy Full Couler lip gloss in Vibrant Red (left), Vibrant Orange (middle), or Fuchsia Pink (right). You can find these at for $19 a piece.

Bright lips a bit too wild for you? Try a pretty, pastel shadow on you eyes. Romantic shades are really in right now. This trend will look gorgeous with a sundress & wavy hair (I'm excited to try that!!) To get this look try Too Faced's Romantic Eye Collection. This palette comes with 9 shades & 3 how to cards (Too Faced is amazing, most of their palettes come with cards that tell you where to put the different colors to get different looks. You can find this palette for $35 at

When it comes to a golden glow this spring, the trend is a matte finish, not a high shimmer disco-ball face. The trick to making bronzer look natural? Aside from just dusting it across your nose, cheekbones and chin, also blend a little bit of color into your hairline. Using a big fluffy brush will help prevent streaks and ensure your gilding doesn't go overboard. I've blogged about my love for Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder, but another great option is Benefit's Hoola Boxed Powder. It's a bit lighter than the chocolate one. I've been using Hoola on a daily basis. I love it!! You can pick up Hoola at for $28.

**All of the products listed can also be found at Sephora & Ulta...I'm just trying to give you ladies some options :)**

Old Hollywood. Women don't get anymore glamorous than that. That was a time when women always dressed up, and men were dapper in their matter where they were going. **sigh** If I could pick a time period to live in, that's what I'd go back to.

Needless to say, the women shown above have forced a life long obsession on me. Red lipstick. What beauty product is more glamorous than red lipstick? Nothing. As I get older, I'm less nervous about wearing it. It's a bold statement, not for the faint at heart. If it's a look you're wanting to try, here's a few pointers:

Consider the lighting. "If you're going to be outdoors, pick a softer or sheerer shade," says Rachel Lockhart, owner of Rachel's Makeup Studio, in Boston. "For evening, go bolder, so your features stand out."

Avoid deep reds if you have thin lips. They tend to make lips look smaller.

Experiment with intense shades if you have strong coloring. "Natural contrast gives you more options," says Jill Morton, head of ColorCom, a consultation agency in Honolulu, says of those with exaggerated natural coloring (for example, paper-white skin, black hair, and blue eyes).

Don't play up your eyes. "Pair red lipstick with the lightest possible eye makeup," says lipstick designer Poppy King. A little mascara and beige shadow will do.

Don't toss a red lipstick in a shade that doesn't work. "Top it with a gold gloss to warm and soften it, or add a pink gloss to take it to the bluer side," says makeup artist Maria Verel.

Coordinate your look. Dot a little smudge of the lipstick on the apples of your cheeks, then blend it with your fingers.

Be precise. That means whether you're using a brush or applying lipstick straight from the tube. "Red lipstick should never be applied casually in the back of a taxi," says Verel.

Don't use red lip liner. If it doesn't match your lipstick perfectly (and odds are it won't), you'll end up with a two-tone effect. If you like using liner, find a shade that's close to your natural lip color and use it to outline your lips.

Prevent "bleeding." Apply a little concealer around the border of your mouth.

Avoid getting lipstick on your teeth. After applying, put your finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, then slowly pull it out to remove excess color.
MAC Russian Red is a good universal red. With it's blue undertones, it goes with every skin color. Find it at for $14.50. Remember, red lipstick makes teeth look whiter. And it is just makeup. If you don't like the way it looks, wipe it off.

Drugstore Products Used By Celebrity Makeup Artists...

Surprisingly, top artists don't always use top luxury brands to make our favorite celebrities look fab. After a little research, I've found a few products they use that can be found at our local Wal-Mart. Here are a few of the top picks...

The man behind Lady Gaga’s look, Billy B, swears by L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Blackest Black.(Sam Fine, who works with Jennifer Hudson, agrees.)

Billly B also uses Eucerin lotion to make Ms. Gaga's body shine.

Rachael Goodwin, a Chanel makeup artist who works with Emma Stone & Mila Kunis, is a fan of L’Oreal True Match foundation.

Kristofer Buckle, the man behind Jennifer Lopez’s stunning looks, says if you want a lipstick that will last through almost anything, try Revlon’s ColorStay LipColor.

Kristofer also likes L'Oreal True Match blush & concealer.

Tina Turnbow (she works with Mariska Hargitay) loves the new Physician's Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Bronzers. Tina says, "the Physicians Formula bronzer has the perfect amount of luminosity, not too orange and good for your skin and the environment! The Fair bronzer is awesome for pale women looking for something with a soft bronze feel."

The Shelf Life of Makeup...

A lot of women don't know this, but makeup does have a limit on how long should keep it. Keep in mind, if you use products longer than listed, you probably won't die. There's just a higher risk of getting an infection or breaking out your skin. Here's how long you should keep your favorite beauty products:
Concealer- Up to 12 months.

Powder- 2 years.

Cream & gel cleansers- 1 year.

Pencil eye liner- Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.

Eyeshadow- Will also last up to 3 years. Extra tip: A dark eyeshadow can double as eyeliner, in fact, most makeup artists swear by eyeshadow used as eyeliner. You'll need a super-flat eyeliner brush for this (MAC, Sephora and Aveda have great brushes). Get the brush a little damp and dab in dark eyeshadow (black, brown or deep jewel-tones work great). Wiggle the brush into your lash line focusing on the space between your lashes, then sweep the color just above your lash line.

Brushes- Wash every 2-3 months in a mild detergent. I use baby shampoo.

Sponges- Wash weekly and discard monthly.

Foundation- Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months. You may find you need two different shades of foundation each year: One for summer when your skin is naturally darker and one for winter when you're lighter. Extra tip: If your water-based foundation dries out before it's expiration date, simply add a few drops of alcohol-free toner and shake to mix it in. No need to do this to oil-based foundations. Because they contain oil, they will tend to separate. You have to shake anyway.

Lip liner- Up to 3 years. Extra tip: Skip the push-up lip liners. They're expensive, tend to break and you never really know how much you have left until you run out. No need to spend money on lip liners, there's no secret to greatness for this product. Save your money for powders and foundation.

Lipstick- Some experts say 1-2 years. Others say up to 4 years. What everyone agrees on is that if it smells rancid, throw it out, it's spoiled. Extra tip: If you store lipstick in the refrigerator, it will last longer. Bonus tip: Want your lipstick to last longer during the day? Shade in lips with lip liner before applying lipstick.

Mascara- This product expires the fastest: Throw out after 4 months. Extra tip: If you don't want your mascara to expire faster than its fresh date, don't pump the wand in and out -- you're only exposing the product to drying air.

Nail Polish- Up to 12 months, depending on the quality.

Stila Smokey Eye Talking Palette...

This is the first product I ever purchased from Sephora. I was at the South Hills Mall outside of Pittsburgh. I had set up an appointment for a consultation with one of the girls at Sephora. I told her I wanted a smokey eye. This is what she used. I was in love.
It's the coolest thing. You press the button and the palette talks to you, giving instructions on how to achieve a beautiful smokey eye. It's so easy to use. The colors are gorgeous & highly pigmented. Best of all? These colors will look great on all skin tones.
The colors that come in the palette are:
icy champagne (base)
slate- silvery gray (lid)
kettle- dark gray (contour)
ebony- smoky black brown (liner)
Easy to use. Gorgeous. $40 at Sephora.

Treat Your Feet...

With the weather getting warmer & Spring right around the corner, it's time to start getting our feet sandal ready. Here's a great way to get a great at home, do it yourself, spa treatment.

The first step is to clean off old nail polish using a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. For smaller toenails, a Q-tips cotton swab is the perfect tool. Cut your nails straight across using toenail clippers. File, if necessary, to smooth any rough edges.

After prepping, try a foot soak or foot bath. It's a great way to relieve achy feet, soften skin, and clean any bacteria on the feet. Combined with essential oil is a fantastic way to pamper your feet. Try making this one at home:
Skin Softening Soak:
Ingredients: 1/4 fresh lemon juice, a bit of cinnamon, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/4 cup of milk, 1/4 water
Method: Mix all the ingredients and soak your feet as long as you like. This foot soak can be done twice a week for maximum effect.

Next, Apply a foot scrub. Here's a simple recipe:
Simple Salt Foot scrub:
Ingredients:1 tablespoon of sea salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Method: Mix together and scrub feet and calves with small circular movements. Rinse.

Finish with a nice, thick coat of moisturizer & some polish :)

Happy Spring, ladies!!

My Sephora Wishlist...

1. ghd Classic 1" Styler

This is the perfect tool for all your hair styling needs. It straightens. It smooths. It creates waves. It curls. AMAZING. It also has auto shut-off (if your anything like me, you forget to unplug :-/) I've done a lot of research on straighteners, everyone raves about this one. I just need to convince Jeremiah to let me spend $185 on it. Wish me luck!

2. TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System

How fabulous would it be to have flawless makeup, everyday, without leaving your house or hiring a makeup artist? I know, right?! I'm dying for this. You can do sheer, medium, or full coverage foundation. Plus, you can get blush & highlighters to use with this. I personally believe a flawless face is worth $ the cost of foundation, blush, and

3. Sephora Collection Large Rolling Train Case

I don't quite have enough make to fill this (...yet), but I find this thing extremely cool. The top part snaps off. It's the same size as the case I already have. But the bottom part? Full of compartments & plenty of room for my future purchases. I think that if I'm going to be a professional makeup artist, I should look the part. At $225, this SCREAMS professional.

4. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils 15th Anniversary Collection

I have 2 colors already; Whiskey (dark brown), and Zero (black). I LOVE them. They go on like a gel liner, they're waterproof, and the color is gorgeous. By far, my favorite eye liner. This set comes with 15 shades; Stray Dog (shimmering taupe brown), Corrupt (dark metallic brown with silver glitter), Bourbon (medium brown with sparkle), Midnight Cowboy (beige sparkle), Baked (bronze), Stash (mossy gold-green), Mildew (deep mossy green), Perversion (blackest carbon black), Electric (bright blue), Binge (deep metallic blue), Ransom (bright purple), Asphyxia (pinky iridescent purple), Rockstar (deep reddish purple), Zero (black), and Uzi (sparkling gunmetal gray). It's a $264 value, so I think $92 is a bargain.

5. Hello Kitty Crystal Dipped Handheld Mirror Made With Swarovski Elements

Do I really need a $350, pink crystal, Hello Kitty mirror? No. But, I really, really, really want one. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Hello Kitty. I've always loved Hello Kitty. And the fact that it's pink & sparkly? **SIGH** This is perfect for me. (Jeremiah strongly pooper!!) I am obsessed with this.

I Have a Dream...

There are some many things I want to do during my life time. As I'm getting older, I'm starting to check them off. I am a wife...check. I am a mama...check. I'm a beauty blogger (& people are actually tuning in to read what I have to say...thank you all soooooooo much!!)...check. I'm looking into taking classes, and making makeup my career. But, there is still one thing I've always dreamed of doing...

I want to start an organization to help local high school girls attend their proms. Prom is so expensive now a days. I want to help those less fortunate acheive their fairy tale night. Much like the Princess Project or the Cinderella Project, all dresses, jewelry, and shoes would be donated to help make the dreams of a girl, who probably would unable to attend otherwise, come true. There would be hair, makeup, and nail services provided also. I'd like to have this organaztion up & running for 2012.

Like I said, this is a dream of mine, just something I'm throwing around. Do you think it would be a hit around here? I know times are hard for a lot of local families. Please, please, please give me some feedback. Thank you!!

How OLD is OLD??...

This past weekend, while sitting at the State Wrestling Tournament, the team somehow ended talking about how old Jeremiah was. It was brought to their attention that I am older than he is. For the rest of our time in Huntington, the kids kept telling me I had gray hair (I don't have gray hair, I I also ended up catching an episode of Kourtney & Kim Take NY (don't judge). In the episode, Kim freaks out over turning 30. So, this got me old is old?
I polled Facebook. A lot of people thought 60-70 was old. Some said getting gray hair makes you old. I disagree with both. I worked at Buckhannon Manor for a few years. There was a 90 year old woman there who acted like she was 21. Was she old? I don't believe so. She was young in her heart. I think that's the most imporant. As long as you think you're young, you will be. As for the gray mom started going gray at 20. I still don't think she's old. Have you seen my mama? She looks good!!
I remember sitting at my gate in Pittsburgh International Airport, a year ago. I was on my way to Oklahoma to see Jeremiah. I saw this gorgeous woman walking toward me. She was hands down the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. She walked over & sat in the seat directly behind me. She pulled out her phone & made a call. I overheard her say it was her birthday, and she was on her way home from a business trip to run a marathon. She turned 50 that day. I couldn't believe it. This woman did not look a day over 30. At that moment, I vowed to really start taking care of myself. I want to be a 50 year old inspiration to a 20 something stranger, one day.
This brings me to the other end of the spectrum...I was at Wal-Mart a few years ago with my mama. We were taking my brother through the toy section, when I spotted a girl I went to school with. She had a few kids with her, I'm not sure if they were hers. She looked tired. She had started getting wrinkles. Her hair was a mess. I asked my mom how old she thought the girl was. My mom's guess? 45. She didn't believe me when I told her she was my age.
These events have shaped MY perception of 'old'. It is my belief that if you take care of yourself, then you're going to look & feel younger. And if you have fun & don't take life (or yourself) to seriously, that'll help too. If you let yourself feel old, then it's going to show on your face. Remember, age is nothing but a number. Keep smiling & stay young at heart.

I googled the word OLD...this is what I got. LOL!!

Get This Look...

Kim Kardashian's Eye Makeup from the 2011 Grammy Awards

My eyes are not the same shape as Kim's. The makeup I'm using is not the same thing her makeup artist used. This is just my interpretation of her look My camera is horrible for taking makeup pics. Please, bear with me until I get a new one. Also, I am not wearing faux lashes. Other than that, enjoy!!

Be sure to prime first!! I used Too Faced's Shadow Insurance (duh!)

To get this look, I used my Urban Decay Naked Palette

I started with Virgin. Using a fluffy brush, I put the color from my lashes to my brow.
Next, I used Smog, placing it in a 'V' shape on the outer corner of my eye. (see my previous post on how to do this, if you don't know already.) I used a sponge applicator for this.
Finally, I brushed Halfbaked from my lashes, to the crease of my eye. I also put this color along my bottom lashes & in the inner corner of my eye. You can use any brush for this.

I lined all the way around my eyes with Urban Decay's 24/7 Liner in Zero.

I traced over the liner on my top lid with Maybelline Eye Studio Dramatic Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black. Be sure to make a wing with this liner, it adds that "Kim Kardashian drama".

Finish with 2 coats of mascara. I used Buxom Lash in Blackest Black.
**At this point, I would put on my lashes (if I had**

The last thing you'll need to pull off this look? Confidence.

All the makeup I used can be found at Sephora, other than the Maybelline liner. You can find that at Wal-mart. You don't HAVE to use these colors. You can use similar ones. This is just the closest thing I had to what her makeup artist used.

Thanks for reading!! :)
