Newspaper Nails...

I've really been into nail art lately (obviously). Here's something new and fun to try...

1. Paint your nails white.
2. Let them dry completely
3. Spray newspaper with an alcohol based product, something like body spray or hairspray.
4. Press your nail over the wet paper.
5. Give it a few seconds to dry, then seal with a topcoat.

This is an easy, affordable, fun way to jazz up your nails!!

Sandwich Bag Nail Art...

I spend an embarrassing amount of time watching how-to videos on YouTube. But I must admit, I have learned a lot of cool stuff. I was watching nail videos with my sister the other day, and we ran across a tutorial for this...

How cool is this?! You draw on sandwich bags with nail polish, any design you want. (The pic above is of ice cream/ppsicles...it's the only pic Google had. You can obviously do any design you want.) You let it dry night. Then you peel the design off, place it on your nail, and seal it with a clear top coat. Super easy & super cute!!

REVIEW: Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat...

So, I was at Wal- Mart today, buying Odin a Spiderman beach towel. I turned around, and saw Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. I was so excited. I LOVE the OPI Shatter. I picked this up in Antique Gold. I couldn't wait to get home and try it...

THIS STUFF IS AWFUL. It's clumpy. It stinks. There was only one little crackle on each of my nails. Ugh. I couldn't believe it. I'm very disappointed. Don't waste $6 on this stuff. Spend the extra two bucks, and get the product that works. I'll be sticking with OPI.

Guess Who Can FINALLY French Braid...

...THIS GIRL!!
I'm so excited!! I've been trying to learn for years. Many, many people have tried to teach me, and I just couldn't pick it up. Finally, I turned to the place where I do most of my learning...YouTube. I needed to find a cute way to keep my bangs out of my face for Summer time. The last thing I need is a tan line from my bangs...lol. I've always wanted to do the braided headband (made famous by Miss Lauren Conrad), and now I can!! YAY!! I know it's dumb, but I really am excited :)

So, You Want to Look Like Ke$ha...

Now you can!! Ultraflesh has came out with a fun new product. Their Flash Face Decorating Kit comes with 9 stencils, 3 cans of spray makeup (in Black Moondust, Pink Stardust, and Gold Golddust), and 3 highlighting/detail pens.

I think this little kit look like fun!! Not sure I would use it everyday, but it's definitely something different. I'm all about trying something new...especially when it comes to makeup. It's available at sephora.com for $48. The reviews on it are all good. I'm seriously thinking about trying this out. What do you ladies think??

Annoyed...

Well, I guess MAC decided to release this collection early. I was counting the days down til the 26th & it came out last night. Both products I really wanted are now SOLD OUT. I am not a happy camper. Now, I have to take time out of my busy weekend to go all the way to Pittsburgh to hunt this stuff down (I've done it before, I know...not the point). Anyway, thanks MAC!! Ugh.

It is a fun collection...lots of teals, bronzes, & corals. Go to maccosmetics.com to check it out. It's listed under the 'NEW PRODUCTS' tab.

The New Me...

Sorry for those who expect this to be all makeup, all the time. There's something very therapeutic about putting yourself out there for the whole world to see (or read, in this case). If you don't like it, check back tomorrow...

Take a good look at the picture above. Normally, I'd criticize the way I look, but now I see a strong, fun-loving, caring, wife & mother. It's no secret that I've struggled with depression. It all started while I was pregnant. I was awful. No one wanted to be around me (which made me feel worse). Then after I had Odin, I felt fat and ugly. I gained 60 pounds with my pregnancy. I was too embarrassed to leave the house. Jeremiah was working out of town for 2 weeks at a time. I was hard being a "single" parent, but the stress of my inner struggle just made things 10 times worse. Finally, Jeremiah got a job that keeps him home the majority of the time, so I was able to focus more on getting myself better. Finally, I had an epiphany. If I wanted to be happy, then I had to change. Sitting around the house, in tears, wasn't fixing anything. It was like a weight was immediately lifted from my shoulders.
So, here I am, with 20 pounds of baby weight left to lose (not sure if I can call it baby weight, when Odin is over a year old...lol). For the first time, I'm not worried about it. If I want to lose it, I have to work for it. Period. No miracle diet or pill could do the work for me. Gotta love eating right & exercise. I'm even doing it the right way!! The old me would've just stopped eating (yes, I've been struggling with anorexia since high school, so glad that girl isn't around anymore). For the first time in a very long time, I feel alive. Praise God!! :)

How to Fix Broken Eyeshadows (& a bonus beauty find)...

I ran across this video on YouTube. We all have eyeshadows that crumble. Here's a way to fix them!! Kandee Johnson has the best tips & tricks. Check her out. You'll learn a lot from her!!

Here's a bonus...

I was creeping on Sephora's website (surprise, surprise), and I came across feather hair extensions!! They're by Sulta, and will set you back $25. These just clip in, so they're easy to put in & take out. They come in four fun colors. If you're interested, click here!!

To Tattoo or Not to Tattoo...

I've been thinking about getting a new tattoo for about a year now. I set up an appointment last August & it just didn't work out. I took that as a sign. Maybe I didn't need to get it, but now I REALLY want it again. It would be something like this...

Unlike Eva Longoria, I wouldn't get my wedding date (obviously, that didn't work out well for her). I want my son's birth date. He is the most important person in my life. He is MINE. No one else can be his mommy, ever. I want to celebrate him. I think I'm going to try again. Tattoo, Take 2...

Stay tuned!! :)

Strawberry Nails...

It's that time of year again...it's raining & cold, it must be Strawberry Festival!! Here's fun & cute way to spice up your week...

Yay for STRAWBERRY NAILS!! These are super easy to do. Here's what I used....

I decided to use hot pink rather than red, I thought it was more fun. Plus, when it dries, it smells like strawberries. I got it at Justice (yes, the store for little girls...don't judge, they have great nail polish there). I think it was $6.50. I used mint green for the tops. Again, I thought it was more fun than regular green. I used Mint Sorbet from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. For the dots, I used Mellow Yellow, also from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. I think they were $2.50 each. This is super cute & super easy to do. Hope everyone has a great time at the festival!! :)

BRIDESMAIDS...

I love a good girls night...especially when it involves my sister. She's good for my soul. Tonight we went to see Bridesmaids. We got to the theater, and got snacks first thing (2 drinks, 2 boxes of candy, & 1 large order of nachos). We spotted a cardboard cutout of The Rock, Chels had to get picture taken with it. Then, I tripped over my own feet & almost lost the nachos. Finally, we made it into the theater. It was full of women with their girlfriends. It was a great atmosphere. Chels ate all her Twizzlers before the movie started...irrelevant, but I thought it was funny.

My thoughts on the movie...
HILARIOUS!! Melissa McCarthy (who plays Megan) stole the movie. I don't want to give anything away. But trust me, this is a must see. Grab your girls and go see this ASAP.

P.S.- ask for extra cheese if you get nachos, they don't give you enough :)

Is it May 26th Yet?...

MAC is about to release their Summer collection. This year's is called Surf Baby. They leaked pictures about a month ago, & I've been drooling ever since.

Everything is so beachy. I'm loving all of the bronze colors & teals. I love the surf board theme, also. The first thing I'm going to pick up is the Cheek Powder. It's a gorgeous peach color, with a gold hibiscus overlay. It will give you color and highlight. It screams "SUMMER" to me. I can't wait. It will set you back $28.00.

For a more in depth look at the collection, click here. The link will take you to a great makeup website, temptalia.com.

RAVE!! Neutrogena Fresh Cleansing Makeup Remover...

I'm all about using natural products. I was so excited when Neutrogena came out with this. It's sulfate and dye free. Unlike other 'natural' products I've tried, this one actually cleans out your pores. I use it with my Olay scrubby thing (I don't know what it's exactly called, sorry. It's the Clarisonic look-a-like thing that costs $170 less...lol. You can get it at Wal-Mart). It makes my face feel so clean. Plus, it smells like fruit salad. The combination of this face wash, my Olay scrubber, and L'Oreal Youth Code eye cream/moisturizer has made my skin look amazing. Now, I feel confident leaving the house without makeup on. Try it!! It's less than $7, and available at Wal-Mart.

5 Minute Whitening? Yes, Please...

I have been looking for this stuff...FOREVER. It's the Plus White 5 Minute Whitener. Kandee Johnson talks about it in a ton of her videos. She gets hers at Wal-Mart. I guess things are different out west, because it was no where to be found here. I checked Wal-Mart, Target, and various other retail places. I was about to give up hope, then I saw IT. Top shelf. Dollar General. $7. I'm so excited!! I'm going to use this for the next 7 days, then I'll either rant or rave. Stay tuned!!

How to Look Like a Princess...

It's no secret, Kate Middleton did her own makeup for her royal wedding. She was coached by makeup maven, Ms. Bobbi Brown. Recently, the good people at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics released the very chart used for the princess' big day.

All of the colors, listed above, are available at sephora.com. In total, everything will set you back about $189.00. Duchess Catherine proves that you don't have to spend a million bucks in order to look like a million bucks.

The Louboutin Manicure...

Nothing is more iconic than a pair of Christian Loutboutin black pumps. They just scream sexy. If you can't afford to shell out $895.00 for a pair, try the Louboutin Manicure. It's created by painting your nails black, then painting the underneath of the nail red.
Here's mine!! It's kinda hard to see, i don't have flash on my phone camera (Odin hid the regular camera...again). I used Razzle Dazzle from Nicole by OPI on the top, and Right Said Red from Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure underneath. Both colors are available at Wal-Mart.

SUPER Blush...

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged, ladies. Between prom & Mother's Day, I've been super busy. Life has slowed down, and gotten back to normal. So, I wanted to share an amazing product with you.

This is Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush. I discovered it while at Sephora during my Mother's Day shopping trip. I didn't purchase it...yet. I swatched a few colors on the back of my hand. I thought the colors were beautiful. I wasn't really shopping for blush, so I went on about my business. I had done everything in my normal routine that evening...washed my face, took care of Odin, the usual stuff. When I woke up the next morning, the swatches we still on the back of my hand. The staying power of this stuff is amazing!! They're highly pigmented. They're all natural. I can not wait to go back & pick up a couple of these. Check them out here, at sephora.com. They are priced at $25, but with longevity like that makes them worth it.

Happy Mother's Day to Me (From Odin)...

After telling my boys a million things that I wanted for Mother's Day, we decided to take a last minute trip to Pittsburgh for  a little makeup shopping. I ended up at my two favorite places...Sephora and the MAC counter at Macy's. Here's what I ended up with...

MAC Beauty Powder in Alpha Girl ($25.00 at maccosmetics.com)
A soft, peachy-pink pressed powder, this is gorgeous. It's from their Fashionflower line, which is Limited Edition...get it before it's gone!!

MAC Eyeshadow in Carbon ($14.50 at maccosmetics.com)
This is matte black. I'm using it as eyeliner :)

MAC Eyeshadow in Groundcover ($14.50)
This is sold out online.  It's a matte brownish-gray. I got mine at the Mall at Robinson. Go there!! All of the girls are super helpful, patient, and sweet.

MAC Lipstick in Hue ($14.50 at maccosmetics.com)
This is a soft pale pink color...so beautiful!!

Urban Decay Lip Gloss in Crush ($19.00 at sephora.com)
This is such a fun, super bright, hot pink color. It's gonna be great for summer. Having a tan will make this pop. I can't wait!!

Sephora by OPI Nail Polish in Already Famous
Sheer pewter with champagne glitter...it's going to look amazing under Black Shatter (yes, that's why I bought it. I'll post Facebook pics later today).

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog ($17 at sephora.com)
This came in the Naked Palette, I guess I thought I needed a larger size. I was looking for a deep bronze, and loved this one. Once I got in the car, I remembered I already had it. Oops.

Sephora Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner ($6 at sephora.com)
I got this to use for prom. With 5 girls getting their makeup done, I won't have time to completely clean my brushes in between. This little baby is going to be a lifesaver.

So, that's what I got for Mother's Day. After I use each of these products for awhile, I'll do reviews on them. Hope everyone has a great day!! :)

RAVE!! L'Oreal Youth Code Starter Kit...

For years, I have been a diehard Olay girl. Since writing this blog, I've started exploring other products. I came across L'Oreal's new skin care line, and decided to give it a try...

This is the Youth Code Starter Kit, and I am in love. L'Oreal claims this is the product of 10 years worth of research. I believe them. It's amazing. It comes with 3 products: Day Lotion with SPF 30, Day/Night Cream, and Eye Cream. I haven't used much of the Day Lotion, but I use the other 2 products twice a day. My skin looks more youthful, brighter, firmer, and smoother. I look well rested. Jeremiah (who NEVER notices ANYTHING) even made comments on how good my skin looks. I am so pleased. I highly, highly reccommend this kit ($29.97 at Wal-Mart). Keep in mind, this is a starter kit, so these are smaller sizes. Full sizes will run you $21.97 a piece, from Wal-Mart.

Drastic Measures...

Here's an update on my weight loss:

I haven't lost anything. Nothing. On the up side, I haven't gained any. So, that's a plus. I've tried just watching what I eat & trying to work out at home. Not working. I've started counting calories again (not my favorite thing, at all). I'm also going back to the gym. I feel really guilty about leaving Odin everyday to do it, but I have to take care of myself. I want to be a healthy role model for him. I'm honestly not worried about what I look like, please don't think I'm being vain. I want to be healthy. If my jean size goes down, then that's a plus.

I got new workout shoes!! I'm really excited about them. We're making out gym debut tonight. Wish me luck!! I'll update again next week. Hopefully, I'll have better news...

Review: Aqua Cream from Make Up For Ever...

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #2 (Steel)

I am in love with this stuff!! I initially got it because it was featured in Britney Spears' video for "Hold it Against Me" (I know, I know...I love her. Don't judge). I wore it the other day, just for grins, and I LOVE IT!! It goes on like a cream, but dries like a powder. It blends easily, and it lasts all day. No flaking. No creasing. No smudging. It looked as good at the end of the as it did in the beginning. Bonus? It's waterproof!! I was a little worried about trying to take it off, but all you need is your regular cleanser. If you live a highly active lifestyle, but you love to look girly, get this product. It's a Sephora exclusive. It's available in stores and on their website for $22...a bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
